We have been fascinated by the variety and color of the flowers and trees here in Cocha. Because it is basically spring like weather year round, the flowers are always blooming. Since the area receives intense sun due to the altitude, there are quite a bit of fruit trees that do well. I put together some pictures to give everyone a taste of what we see daily.
Today, we spent a long day in service and it was very rewarding. All four of us were able to start studies. We worked up until dark, around 6:30 here. Very good spirit in the congregation, lots of support. We see why they take naps in the afternoon from 12-2:00. The sun will really take it out of you and you walk EVERYWHERE. Casey and I ignored the custom today to do some RV during this time. Around 5:30, we regretted the decision but we made it through. Preaching here is awesome.
Our assembly has been moved to the following weekend. The manager of the stadium is essentially the government, so whenever there is a chance to make more money with a political function, they do so without regard to contracts. No worries, though, we actually get to have the assembly in a nicer, more comfortable stadium--indoors!!
We watched a movie with the family that lives upstairs, the Arevalos, last night (also our landlords). They are extremely hospitable--the father and mother have been married for over 35 years and he serves as the cordinator of the cong. They have a son that lives in the other half of the upstairs with his wife, Pablo and Gaby. They just celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary yesterday. We had popcorn, chips, chicharron, mote (corn), potatoes (of course!) and soda. Good night to unwind.
Enjoy the photos!

Gorgeous! The kids thought all the fruit trees were especially neato.
ReplyDeleteLove you guys! Talk to you soon.
And we have to visit botanical gardens! Am guessing the scenery makes all the walking so much more enjoyable. We had rain again all morning for Saturday service - CJ, I wore your left-behind rain boots and thought of you all morning - oh, yeah, I was wearing one of your skirts too! My wardrobe has expanded since your departure! But if you keep up all that walking you won't be able to wear those clothes anyway....Love and miss you both
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Congratulations on the new studies!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are absolutely incredible! How big would you say is the flower in photo #7? Looks like a hibiscus, which is normally about 4 inches across, but this one looks the size of a dinner plate judging by the bricks and wrought iron behind it.
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to skyping you guys in a bit!
Love, Mommo & Pop
What gorgeous greenery there is there!
